Boys in Trouble and the Trouble with Boys

Coordinator: Hanne Haavind , Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Oslo

The study group consists of an international group of researchers that share an interest in studying young boys and the kinds of trouble that often are associated with them. Trouble is not to be predefined, but rather to be explored. This means that we will have to include ways of understanding the trouble with (some) young boys -how boys in trouble are conveyed, and how they are handled according to discourses of trouble and conflict, and discourses of masculinity and about growing up. The particular goal is to search for knowledge from different contexts around the world.

Results from pre-conference workshops will be presented at the conference in 2005, but the thematic session will also be open for papers and posters from individual participants.
