Interview with Alan John Flisher
Alan John Flisher is Professor and
Head of Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry,
University of Cape Town and Red Cross Hospital South
Africa. He is being interviewed by S. Bastien from the
Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo.
They discuss lifestyle, health and risk behaviour.
Professor Flisher reflects upon the current state of
knowledge regarding the epidemiology of drug use and
sexual behaviour in Africa; exploring the reasons for
such behaviour, the applicability of theoretical models
developed in high-income countries in Africa, and some
lessons extracted from current intervention efforts.
Professor Flisher also poses some challenges in mounting
appropriate responses to the issues of drug use and
unsafe sexual behaviour of children and youth in Africa.
